
About Needham Chalks (HAM) Ltd
Needham Chalks has been in operation for nearly 70 years. The first chalk was dug from the Needham Market quarry in 1947 when in those days chalk was dug by hand and moved by horse and cart. In the original days the lime trade was primarily for the use in Agriculture as farmers became more and more aware of soil fertility and management and realised the importance of this valuable resource to maximising their yields.
Today Needham Chalks (HAM) Ltd operate out of 5 quarries throughout East Anglia supplying lime to farmers however along with a multitude of different businesses requiring lime Needham now sells into the brick industry, as well as producing chalk for:
